July is a succession of many moderately strong storms of brief duration, separated by weak and noisy transitions. These storms suffer from a lack of support from the slower planets, as the backbones of recent months (such as the Jupiter, Uranus, Pluto grouping in June) are dissipating. There's just not much in the way of a well defined planetary grouping to hold a storm together. The closest we have to such a pattern is from the Saturn-Pluto octile of late June, with maybe some help from Jupiter. This lack of backbone is also responsible for how quickly we cycle through these waves of storms and transitions, resulting in 6 different energy patterns this month. Situations change rapidly in July, so get ready for many shifts along the way.

Jul 1st to the 7th

The 1st to the 7th is a brief storm that is moderate in strength and somewhat harsh in overall tone. The waveform varies in power from 322 to 494 units -- from no "oomph!" to somewhat moderate strength. The harmonics are a complex mixture of H24, H12, H6 and H48 -- generally difficult and stressful, but with some helpful undertones. The areas of most intense energy drift along from 20 to 28 degrees of each zodiac sign during this time, with secondary focal areas at 13 and 9 degrees. This drifting effect is due to the faster moving planets giving their attention to one small group of slower planets after another in a game of musical chairs. Around the full moon on the 1st, dreamy Neptune is most prominent, giving our lives a lazy and unmotivated quality. A few days later, Jupiter and Uranus take the reins, making life more active and stimulating the mind. Several days later, it's Saturn and Pluto in the foreground, giving us a more solemn mood. Take these changes in stride.

Jul 8th to the 13th

The 8th to the 13th is the first transition period, weak and noisy. The waveform is mostly in the 318 to 400 unit range, though is does hit 422 units as we head into the next storm. The harmonics are mostly H48, a fat H12 and lots of noise -- no structure or direction here. The energies are scattered across 10-13, 20-22 and 25-27 degrees of various signs. There's a lot of not much going on during this period. We get some influence from Uranus and Neptune during this time, which stirs things up without producing any clarity. Mercury moves from Gemini to Cancer on the 8th, so mental focus can take a hit if you're prone to moodiness. There's no tailwind for your efforts, so I probably wouldn't advise taking on any big projects now.

As we'll see several times in July, the planetary storms may not amount to much, and when they collapse, they lose steam rapidly. We go several days in a row this week without so much as a single aspect to juice up the energies. During this period, the Sun, Mercury and Mars tickle Uranus and Neptune occasionally, but it never amounts to much. Perhaps the biggest of these aspects is the Sun-Uranus square on the 12th, an aspect I'd normally not be concerned about unless it was part of a larger pattern. The mood is lazy, unfocused, but a bit out of the ordinary. Kick back, if you have the time, and save yourself for the next storm that kicks in around the new moon.

Jul 14th to the 17th

The 14th to the 17th is a brief storm, probably the most potent time all month. The waveform is in the 338 to 520 unit region, a quick burst of energy without any staying power. The harmonics include H4, H12 and H24 -- mostly difficult. The focal points are 13-14 and 28 degrees of each sign. This is the busiest time all month, especially on the 15th. We have 10 important aspects, including the new moon, on this one day alone. All the fast moving planets are connecting with Saturn and Pluto during this time, a significant aftershock of that octile aspect from Jun 20. Most of these aspects are challenging or stressful, based on H8 contacts, which doesn't help. Try to utilize these energies for some important, long-term project, but realize that you may only get started before the sky changes its mood and withdraws support. Focus on the long-term and don't get hung up on quick results. Relationships may be moody or volatile during this time, exciting but unpredictable. Don't take interpersonal fireworks seriously now.

Jul 18th to the 20th

The 18th to the 20th is another transition time, a bit stronger than before. The waveform is in the 338 to 434 unit range, so we're mostly sputtering along on fumes. The harmonics consist of H4, a fat H12, H48 and H24, a stressful and scattered feeling for the most part. Most of the power is around 25-28 degrees, though frankly speaking, the energies are pretty much smeared out across the entire sky. The Moon goes over Jupiter and Venus on the 18th, just about the time that Venus moves into Virgo before going retrograde. Emotional issues are changing rapidly and probably making little sense now, so be patient. Mercury contacts Uranus and Neptune, putting the thinking mind into a curious tailspin. It may be a good time for gathering helpful insights and inspirations, but such good ideas will need a lot of fleshing out later on and may not prove as useful in the long run as they sound now.

Jul 21st to the 24th

The 21st to the 24th is yet another brief, sharply focused storm. The waveform varies from 362 to 507 units -- a burst of energy with no staying power. The harmonics are H12, H4, H24 and H48 -- somewhat positive in nature, but with a difficult undertone. The energies are focused around the boundary lines between zodiac signs, from 28 degrees of one sign to 1 degree of the next, plus 15 degrees. The Sun and Mercury both trine Saturn before they move into Leo; Venus is also in the background. This is a good time for mental work, especially on a topic that is important to you personally. The thinking mind is quick and in harmony with who you are at a deeper level. Outside distractions are minimized. Too bad this time doesn't last more than a few days, as this is probably the best energy all month.

The final storm is a preview of coming attractions that show up in August. Jupiter and Venus are square to Saturn -- the Jupiter-Saturn square is exact for the first time on Aug 3, the day after Saturn's direct station, a busy time. I suspect this square will have major repercussions on the national stage, especially as we get into the primary season next spring. Throw in Sun-Mercury and the Moon and you get this brief Alert waveform. Mars is pulling away from opposing Pluto, a big power issue contact that could trigger some violence; he's about to square Uranus soon as well. This is a busy storm that knocks us for a loop. Fortunately, it's very short lived.

Jul 25th to the 31st

Finally, the 25th to the end of the month peters out into one last weak and noisy transition. The waveform is in the 319 to 432 unit range, pretty lifeless. The harmonics are H48, H4, H8 and H24 -- rather negative across the board. The peaks are scattered across 26-28, 10-14 and 5-7 degrees. The big news now is that Venus goes retrograde on the 25th and Uranus follows suit the next day. Life goes into a tailspin as the emotions and instincts go a little nuts. Mercury, the thinking mind, is under heavy unconscious influences from Neptune and Pluto. Again, you may get some great inspirations now, but new ideas can be unreliable. The emotions take another shift when Venus backs up from Virgo into Leo shortly after the full moon on the 31st. Life's unsettled now, so be patient and don't jump to conclusions. This crazy mood continues into early August.
