Energy Patterns for December 2014

Major Waveform Patterns:

Dec 1st to the 2nd -- the weak transition continues.
Dec 3rd to the 8th -- a big storm brews at full moon.
Dec 9th to the 15th -- things start cooling off.
Dec 16th to the 21st -- a pesky solstice time.
Dec 22nd to the 27th -- back to a moderate storm pattern.
Dec 28th to the 31st -- time to chill out over new years.

An online ephemeris for the month is available. Check Current Transits, too.

December has more consistently solid energy than we've seen in many months. Most of the coming weeks consists of storm patterns of moderate to high intensity, though it can feel somewhat disruptive or chaotic at times. However, the energies are rather volatile and changeable in nature, resulting in a large number of patterns to discuss. I see roughly 6 distinct energy patterns this month.

Dec 1st to the 2nd

The 1st to the 2nd is a continuation of the incredibly weak transition period that checked in over Thanksgiving. The waveform on these days stays in the 338 to 400 unit range, hardly any strength whatsoever. The harmonics are mostly H48, perhaps some H12 and a lot of noise -- the mood is scattered and distracted by annoying issues. The energies are mostly focused at 8-12, 27 and 4 degrees of each zodiac sign -- see where this hits your own birth chart. There's not much going on during this time. We're under the lingering influence of Saturn, Uranus and Pluto, a rather unpleasant trio to have in charge. The Mars-Saturn sextile would normally be a good omen for disciplined effort, but there's very little energy to back up such an inclination. It's best to muddle through this time and get ready for the big storm coming up all too quickly.

Dec 3rd to the 8th

The 3rd to the 8th is the major planetary stormplanetary storm of the month. The waveform varies in strength from a weak 390 units to a towering Koz Alert of 572 units (just before the full moon), one of the most powerful patterns of the entire year. The harmonics include H6, H24, H12 and H48 -- more positive and constructive than before. The energy peaks at 12-13 and 27-28 degrees of each sign. This period starts out with a nasty Saturn-Uranus trioctile, although this could be useful if you're ready to make some important changes in your life. Throw in Pluto and his tendency to break down behaviors and structures that have exceeded their "sell by" date and you have a good impression of what this week will be like. This trio of outer planets is triggered into action by the Sun and Mercury a number of times, leading to the Alerts. Jupiter goes retrograde on the 8th, so it may feel like people are retreating into their shells these days, pulling back from emotional connection with others. Try to put this energy to good use, though it may be more easily harnessed for demolition work than something constructive. Pay attention to stray thoughts that cross your mind and get you to see the world in a new manner.

Dec 9th to the 15th

The 9th to the 15th is a weaker and noisier version of this storm pattern, with a milder and less destructive tendency. The waveform is in the 345 to 458 unit range -- weak to moderate intensity levels. The harmonics are a mix of H24, H48 and H12 -- more demanding and stressful than the main storm. The emphasized areas include 21-23, 3-5 and 27 degrees of each sign. The big story during this period is the Uranus-Pluto square on the 15th, which should be lurking in the background all month long. It causes old structures to crumble while (hopefully) providing some hints and clues as to the new directions life will take after the demolition is done. Other than that, Jupiter and Neptune seem to be rather active now. They add an optimistic note to this time with some higher spiritual vibes. You have to test out these influences, however, since these planets can be impractical in their approach. At least the mood is calmer than before.

Dec 16th to the 21st

The 16th to the 21st is, at best, a minor storm. The waveform ranges from 334 to 491 units, weak to moderate power. The harmonics are a complex blend of H24, H6, H12, H8, H4 and H48 -- generally positive, but with an underlying difficult streak. The hot areas are 12-14, 27-28 and 24 degrees. This period may not raise a big head of steam, but it is one of the busier times this month. It starts with the annual passage of the Sun over the Galactic Center on the 18th. If you're susceptible to higher spiritual energies, this is a good time to let mundane concerns go for awhile and check out what's on the "other side" of the veil. By the 19th to the 21st, Venus and Mars are repeatedly triggering the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto group into action. We normally think of Venus and Mars as a light hearted, sexy, romantic influence, but with those outer planets in the mix, there's something deeper and more significant going on in our relationships. Keep your eyes open for such trends in your daily interactions with others. The solstice on the 21st is a busy time, with the Uranus direct station and the new moon also happening the same day. Some powerful new trends are being set into action this day on many levels, though it may take some time to become aware of them. Again, try to be aware of these subtle shifts.

Dec 22nd to the 27th

The 22nd to the 27th is a solid, but mostly moderate storm. The waveform varies from 335 to 506 units, a rather wide range of intensity levels. The harmonics consist of H4, H12, H24 and H8 -- mostly harsh and challenging, but that H12 softens the blow somewhat. The energies are focused at 13-15, 28 and 18 degrees. The big news this period is Saturn's entrance into Sagittarius on the 23rd. The overall mood lightens up, emotional soap operas become less compelling. What a relief! Mercury jostles Uranus and Pluto on the 24th and 25th, so pay attention to thoughts and daydreams now. Some of the information bubbling up from unconscious depths may be of use down the road. The Sun, Moon and Venus aspect Neptune on the 26th. That spells a time of refined emotions or mental fog, depending on how well you can handle the energies.

Dec 28th to the 31st

Finally, the 28th to the end of the year is a noisy, volatile transition period with little "oomph!" to it. The waveform is in the 320 to 441 unit region -- not much energy here. The harmonics are H48, H24 and possibly some H12 at times -- scattered and distracting once more. The emphasized areas are 19-23, 11-14 and 6 degrees. 2014 leaves on a quiet note that rounds out a rather tempestuous year. There's not much happening in these final days of the year. Jupiter seems to be the most active planet, which may put us in a more optimistic mood as we face the new year. Neptune also helps us see the more positive side of life. Otherwise, just wind down your activities for the month and enjoy the holidays. This quiet, if somewhat muddled energy is starting to get more organized as we head into January.
