Energy Patterns for May 2014

Major Waveform Patterns:

May 1st to the 8th -- the Grand Cross storm is starting to crumble.
May 9th to the 13th -- a brief break in the action.
May 14th to the 18th -- the last hurrah of the Cross.
May 19th to the end of the month -- the start of the Grand Hangover.

An online ephemeris for the month is available. Check Current Transits, too.

The A5 Spectrum provides a unique view of the collapse of the Grand Cross, as the waveforms let us watch the huge storm pattern fall apart into chaos. All the towering peaks and powerful storms are on their last legs and by the end of the month are hardly visible in the waveform at all. The outer planet backbone that has fueled so much storm-making activity since new years is breaking up and scattering, making it harder by the end of May to raise any energy whatsoever. There are more or less 4 major energy patterns to discuss this month, although you may quibble whether the long transition period at the end should be subdivided.

May 1st to the 8th

The 1st to the 8th is the last of disorganized storm that closed out April. It still has some focus and power to it, but the signs of its collapse are also evident. The waveform varies in strength from 353 to 509 units, so we're not out of the potent Koz Alert territory quite yet. The harmonics are a mixture of H4, H12, H24 and H48 -- mostly difficult frequencies, though the H12 softens the blow considerably. The energies are most focused around 12-15, 28 and 8 degrees of each zodiac sign, so check where this hits your own birth chart. There is still a Grand Cross (Jupiter, Mars, Pluto, Uranus) to speak of, but it's definitely past its prime. The Sun comes through and makes aspects to all the Cross planets between the 1st and the 6th, while Mercury triggers the Cross between the 5th and the 7th. The solar contacts are generally positive aspects, giving us a chance to do some personality overhauls on ourselves in a non-threatening way. The Mercury connections are rougher, however, so you may face some rude circumstances that make you change your mind and opinions rapidly. Be flexible during this time. You may not get such useful growth opportunities for quite some time.

May 9th to the 13th

The 9th to the 13th is more or less a transition period between storms, a waveform that is noisy, spiky and considerably weaker than what we've been used to. The intensity levels are in the 345 to 470 unit range, pretty weak most of the time, and that 470 is actually a lead up to the next brief storm. The harmonics consist of a fat H12, H48 and H24 -- not too difficult, but rather scattered and unfocused. The areas of emphasis are 12-15, 8-9 and 28 degrees of each sign. The overall mood of this period is a big break from the past. Relationships may take up more of your time than usual. Venus is conjunct Uranus, opposite Mars and square Pluto, so the romantic scene is being turned on its head. Mercury is also part of the picture, so clear cut communications are vital to making life with others go smoothly. Neptune is a stronger planet than usual, bringing a dreamy, otherworldly mood to life. Pay attention to people you run into these days -- they may play a bigger role in coming months than you may expect.

May 14th to the 18th

The 14th to the 18th is a brief, sharp storm, a kind of final blast from the Grand Cross. The waveform is in the 375 to 529 unit region, the most intense energies all month. The harmonics include a familiar mix of H4, H12, H24 and H48 -- on the rough side, but with a silver lining from that H12. The strongest areas of each zodiac sign drift from 13 to 18 degrees during this time as the faster moving planets race through the sky, with secondary peaks around 29 degrees. Mercury and Venus continue their passage through Grand Cross territory, bringing up new ideas and deep feelings that shake things up for us, especially in the relationship realm. The Sun is also starting a stint as a trigger planet at this time, though this influence may be too little, too late to make much of a difference. Don't take the current shifts in your circumstances too personally, since it's easy to fall into "the world is out to get me" trap now. Wrap up important projects now before you lose your motivation to complete them.

May 19th to the end of the month

The 19th to the end of the month is basically one long, aimless transition period, the longest period without significant Grand Cross action that we've seen all year. It's debatable whether this period should be subdivided, based on changes in harmonics, etc., but it's mostly an academic question with little real life significance. The steam has completely gone out of the waveform, which wanders without a tailwind in the 301 to 422 unit region -- totally anemic! The harmonics are H48, a fat H12, H24 and lots of noise -- weak, scattered, unfocused. The vibes are tossed around all over the place, with 16-19, 5-8 and 25-39 degrees coming up more often than other areas. After months of crazy-strong waveforms, it will feel rather weird to fall back to more of a background level of activity. There is some planetary action going on, mainly triggered by the Sun, but most days there's little happening. It's a good time to gather your wits and sort out all the issues you've been facing in recent months. Get some rest and recharge your reserves, if life permits. I wouldn't even consider starting anything new until after the new moon on the 28th. Given that the new moon is square Neptune, it may be hard to concentrate on anything. There are few signs that things are picking up anytime soon as we head into June.
