Energy Patterns for May 2003

Major Waveform Patterns:

May 1st to the 4th -- kicking off the month on a very tense note.
May 5th to the 8th -- a muddled and undirected time.
May 9th to the 20th -- one long storm plus lunar eclipse.
May 21st to the 23rd -- a time for planets to get reorganized.
May 24th to the end of the month -- the big blast for May.

An online ephemeris for the month is available.

There's not a lot of downtime during May -- it's one long and rough ride. There's at least 3 storm patterns, including the strongest Koz Alerts since last December. Even the periods between storms are less transition times than pauses in the action to reorganize the cast of characters on the stage. Given the trio of Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune that dominate the month, locked in by aspects that all fall in the stressful 8th harmonic family, I'm expecting situations to be mostly difficult and out of control. Prepare yourself for the long haul!

May 1st to the 4th

The 1st to the 4th is the first big storm pattern, starting right at the new moon on the 1st. The waveform ranges in strength from 351 units to 487 -- sizable, but not overwhelming. The harmonics include H4, H24, H48 and H12 -- almost all on the difficult side. The main points of emphasis include 10-12 and 20-22 degrees of each zodiac sign -- check where this hits your own birthchart. The new moon features the Sun and Moon in a T-Square with Jupiter and Neptune (actually a Grand Cross if you throw in Juno). As the kick off for most of the month, it doesn't give a warm and fuzzy feeling about the coming weeks. There's a feeling of being stuck, of watching good intentions go bad. It's important to be idealistic, but also very grounded, since good ideas have a way of going south when they meet reality. When problems arise, try to put them in order right away. Complaining will get you nowhere.

May 5th to the 8th

The 5th to the 8th is the weakest period all month. The waveform stays in the 352 to 462 unit area -- pretty moderate and easy to handle. The harmonics are a messy bunch, however, mostly H48, H12 and H4 still. The main points of emphasis are 13-18 and 28-30 degrees of each sign. This is about as close to a transition period as we get all month, so take a deep breath. This is not a good time for mental work, since we're all a bit fuzzy brained these days. Relax awhile -- by the 8th, already, things are picking up again.

The entire month isn't all screaming Koz Alerts. There are brief periods when not much is happening and the sky settles down. The 5th to the 8th is one of those down times. Relax and kick back, getting ready for the next round of activity coming up. Pay special attention to new ideas or images that may flit through your mind around the 7th. Mercury is literally passing between us and the Sun, appearing to cross the Sun's disk as a little dot. Astronomers call this a "transit"; it can be seen with special equipment, but not by the naked eye. In addition, the Sun and Mercury are combined with Neptune (via parallels and contraparallels ), which adds a note of inspiration to the mix. You'll start to feel your energy levels rise as Mars opposes Jupiter and the Moon on the 8th, kicking off the next phase of the storm.

May 9th to the 20th

The 9th to the 20th is the longest of the storm patterns. The energies range from 389 to 535 units in strength -- you'll definitely notice the next whirlwind blowing into town. The harmonics consist mainly of H4, H8, H24 and H48; the H8 is especially prominent after the 14th, at the peak of the storm. Points of emphasis include 11-13 and 26 degrees. This is likely to be a very ineffectual period. First of all, Neptune is standing still, about to go retrograde, so there's an unfocused or confused haze that blankets everything. Mercury is nearing the end of its retrograde cycle as well, adding to the confusion. Further, Mars is going over Neptune, so our ability to act decisively is also compromised. The full moon on the 15th is a lunar eclipse, so events now will affect us for a long time to come. Try to stay clear.

May 21st to the 23rd

The 21st to the 23rd is a reorganization period, when the storm energies pause to shift gears without slowing down. The waveform barely loses any intensity, hitting the 396 to 497 unit region. The harmonics are a familiar mixture of H4, H24, H48 and some static-y noise -- still pretty rough. There are energy peaks around 12-13, 18 and 26-30 degrees. This is really a time to make a quick pit stop and get back on the road. Things may lighten up a bit, as the Sun moves into Gemini on the 21st and Mercury resumes normal motion; the trio of Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune seems to back off for a few days as well. Uranus wakes up for a time, adding a quirky, unexpected mood to things. Enjoy the reprieve.

May 24th to the end of the month

During the 24th to the end of the month, the trio comes back for one more shot. This is the most intense period all month (if not all year so far), bopping around in the 384 to 583 unit area -- hang onto your hat! The harmonics consist of H4, H12, H24, H48 and H8 -- still harsh, but the H12 that's emerging makes things a tiny bit easier. The energies are focused at 12-15 and 27-30 degrees. Here's one last blast to get through before the planets quiet down for awhile. The 583 Koz Alert is on the 28th, just before the solar eclipse on the 30th, so the month ends on quite a loud note. It's probably easier to make progress on any projects this week than the rest of the month, so try to make some headway. The waveform is breaking up finally as we head into June.
